The Braemar Gathering is a regal occasion not to be missed and 2017 looks like no exception! While there have been Gatherings of one sort or another at Braemar since the days of King Malcolm Canmore, nine hundred years ago, the Gathering has been run has been run by the Braemar Royal Highland Society and its committee since 1832.
This memorable event takes place Saturday 2nd September and its world famous for its friendship and hospitality… and certainly a date for the diary here at Palm Court Hotel!

To celebrate the 200 year anniversary a special commemorative 25 year old whisky has been produced with a limited number of bottles still available. Back in the day however, entrants had to pay 10/- (50p) initially, plus 1/- (5p) per quarter, in return for which there was provision for an annuity for members on reaching the age of 70; sickness and death benefit, and a widow’s allowance.
In 1832 the Braemar Highland Society decided to give £5 for prizes at the Gathering, and from that time on, the Highland Society organised the Braemar Gathering, which became its major undertaking.
