Returning for four nights between the 8th–11th February 2018 SPECTRA is Aberdeen’s stunning Festival of Light, which celebrates the Scottish Year of Young People. Bringing together leading international artists with Scottish collaborators and developing new talent, the festival will deliver a four-day light and music exhibition using new technologies and tools to animate Union Terrace Gardens, the Kirk of St Nicholas, and Marischal College.
This year a new music programme is being introduced TO SPECTRA with some late night sessions and job DJ’s from across the globe. You can purchase tickets by clicking here. Artists include; Mental Overdrive, Cymbals, Plaid and Steve Cobby.
At this years SPECTRA expect an ‘octopus garden’, play the night, noise orchestra, the ‘lightweight impossible’ and light harp as just some of the light installations that will pop-up! Don’t miss ‘King Orpheo’ – a artwork projection on the dramatic facade of His Majesty’s Theatre which tells the story of a medieval myth. Hop on board the light battle – a bicycle light-artwork, take a seat and let the battle commence!
In addition to the presentation of international works, SPECTRA 2018 will support and commission emerging young artists from Aberdeen to collaborate and develop new work with international partners. Organisers will also be seeking to expand participation opportunities as well as developing the impacts of the education programme to those most in need.
